After practicing yoga for some time, 5 years ago Ian decided to devote his time to helping others discover the joys of yoga. He has taken further Yin training with Sarah Powers and Ashtanga training with Richard Freeman. He currently teaches Ashtanga or Ashtanga inspired Vinyasa yoga as well as Yin in what he hopes is a simple and direct style with plenty of space for mindful practice.
Ian is a Level 5 Soft Tissue Therapist with four years of experience in practicing sports and deep tissue massage to help his clients treat injuries, relax, and feel their best. He uses a combination of traditional teachings, the latest modern techniques, and expertly judged pressure to relax tired muscles and ease pain.
Ian undertook his initial training in massage at the London School of Sports Massage after training as a yoga instructor, and he uses his expert understanding of functional anatomy to safely and effectively guide his students and to modify practices to suit each individual. As a result, he has grown a client base that includes a number of yoga teachers and practitioners and has particular knowledge of common injuries that may be sustained in yoga practice (not least because he has had many of these injuries himself). He has also been invited to hold anatomy seminars for yoga teacher workshops and training.
Drawing on his experiences as a yoga instructor, he will ensure that you continue to reap the benefits of your massage by providing you with exercises to stretch and strengthen the body after your session. Whether you’re recovering from a soft tissue injury or you’re just looking to be renewed, rejuvenated, and restored, you can expect a treatment tailored to the specific needs of your body.
