Acupuncture is a holistic approach to health based on over 2,000 years of development and refinement in the Far East. The tradition is as much about the maintenance of health as the management of disease. Although sometimes described merely as a means of pain relief, traditional acupuncture is actually used to treat people with a wide range of illnesses. Its focus is on improving the overall wellbeing of the patient, rather than the isolated treatment of specific symptoms. The skill of an acupuncturist lies in their ability to make a traditional diagnosis from what is often a complex pattern of disharmony. The exact pattern and degree of disharmony is unique to each individual and so following diagnosis, the acupuncturist puts together a personalised treatment plan.
According to traditional Chinese philosophy, our health is dependent on the body’s motivating energy – known as qi – moving in a smooth and balanced way through a series of meridians (channels) beneath the skin. The flow of qi can be disturbed, depleted or blocked by many factors, physical, mental and emotional, leading to pain and illness. By inserting fine needles into carefully selected points along the channels of energy, an acupuncturist can stimulate the body’s own healing response and help to restore its natural balance.
Acupuncture is a widely used form of health care in many countries across the world. Acupuncture is listed by the World Health Organisation as helpful for many conditions.

The Bowen Technique gently encourages your body to heal itself.
A Bowen treatment consists of a series of small, light and very precise moves over soft tissue, made by the practitioner’s fingers or thumbs, with frequent pauses for the body to benefit from each set. These moves stimulate a release of tension, which may be felt throughout the body. This often results in relief from pain as the body relaxes and realigns, and is just the beginning of a healing process which may continue to work for up to ten days.
It may help with sports/accidental injuries, chronic pain, postural imbalances, frozen shoulder, RSI; problems associated with breathing, digestion, circulation and other body systems; bedwetting; fertility challenges; migraines, headaches and many other conditions. It may help to expedite healing, whatever the body is trying to deal with.
The first treatment will take between 75 and 90 minutes, and subsequent treatments are normally completed within the hour.

Babies and children up to 5 £ 25
Cranio-Sacral Therapy is a profound, gentle and deeply relaxing therapy where the client remains fully clothed and comfortable.

The process engages with the body’s inate intelligence to heal itself, working with the specific client’s needs and at their pace. It is therefore suitable for everyone including pregnant women, frail and elderly people and young babies.
This therapy works holistically assisting the client with both minor and chronic conditions to regain health, balance, vitality and wellbeing.

Put simply, tiny, safe doses of a remedy are prescribed when someone exhibits the symptoms that a larger dose of the substance that the remedy is made from would have produced in a healthy person.
Take for example Coffea, which is a remedy taken from coffee – a substance which stimulates the nervous system and causes sleeplessness in some people. Coffea taken in tiny quantities has a very soothing effect on the nerves and can actually promote sleep.
As Homeopaths, we are very focused on finding the cause of your health issue and believe that there is a strong link between your mental, emotional and physical wellbeing.

Deep Tissue Massage
Using a variety of techniques, the purpose of deep tissue massage is to unstick adhesive or stuck tissue, releasing deeply held tension. The therapist will work on specific areas of tension to restore mobility and length, improving muscle function and aiding in the removal of waste products & toxins by improving blood and therefore oxygen circulation to the deep tissue. It is both corrective and therapeutic. It is beneficial for many physical problems, including sports injuries and chronic pain. Because it works very deeply, emotional issues can also be addressed, when these have been stored in the body.

These oils carry various beneficial properties and natural scents of the plants they are derived from. Massage is a popular way to benefit from an essential oil blend. Following on from a consultation the appropriate essential oils will be chosen to use for the treatment. During the consultation the client will be encouraged to say what it is that they want from the treatment and which body areas they would like the practitioner to focus – the treatment is then tailored specifically to meet the client’s needs.
The benefits of aromatherapy massage are wide ranging including simple relaxation, relief from muscular aches and pains, releasing tension, improving sleep, increasing wellbeing and improving mood.

Swedish Massage was developed by a Swedish physiologist, Henri Peter Ling in 1812. It uses a firm but gentle pressure to improve the circulation, ease muscle aches and tension, improve flexibility and create relaxation.
Swedish massage is the foundation for other types of Western massage, including sports, deep tissue and aromatherapy.
Sport & Remedial Massage
Sport massage was originally developed to help athletes prepare their body for optimal performance, recover after a big event, or function well during training. Sports massage emphasizes prevention and healing of injuries to the muscles and tendons. But you don’t have to be an athlete to benefit from sports massage. Sports massage is also good for people with injuries, chronic pain or restricted range of motion. Your therapist will generally concentrate on a specific problem area. You will also be given advice on exercises that can help the problem after the treatment if appropriate.
Remedial massage is one of the most effective and readily available ways to prevent and treat muscle injuries, pain and soreness. Based on the fact that soft tissue (muscles, tendons, ligaments and fascia) respond to touch and that most pain is myofascial (soft tissue) in origin. Trigger points (sensitive points in muscles, which radiate or refer pain to various parts of the body) can mimic many conditions. Muscles not only move our joints, they stabilise them, and they provide armour for the internal organs, minor problems with these functions cause more pain than most people realise.
Although many clients who consult a remedial massage therapist have pain as a result of specific injuries (whiplash, falls, sports injuries, etc.), RSI (repetitive strain injuries) and other work-related problems, the vast majority originates in postural (structural) alignment problems that sometimes go back to childhood and adolescence.and lymph, particularly in the injured areas.
Thai Yoga massage
Thai Yoga Massage is an ancient form of general manipulation and therapeutic massage. For centuries it has treated the mental, physical and emotional imbalances of the body. The combination of Yoga, Reflexology and Acupressure makes it a unique healing art which is based on the theory of 72000 Energy Lines. When these become blocked, the energy becomes stagnant and the body loses its balance, allowing disease to set in.
Thai Massage is a form of passive Yoga where the practitioner applies deep pressure along the energy lines to free the body of tension blockages. Synchronized stretching movements not only promote flexibility, opening of joints and balancing of the muscles; they also massage the inner organs and increase blood oxygenation. Thai massage will leave you feeling both relaxed and energized.
Indian Head Massage
Indian Head Massage is a fully clothed seated treatment based on old Ayurvedic techniques, involving work on the upper back, shoulders, neck, scalp and face. It helps reduce stress, fatigue, eyestrain, increase mental clarity, relaxes and rejuvenates the receiver. It works on the areas of the body that are most affected by stress, however while the treatment is just on the upper part of the body, it’s effects are felt throughout the whole body and mind.
Head massage originated as part of the ancient Indian practice of medicine, called Ayurveda, based on balancing the body, mind and spirit to promote a long life. Ancient Indians believed that massage of all types, used with herbs, spices and oils, promoted strong muscles and skin, good health and encouraged the body’s natural healing powers.
Bamboo Massage has the benefit of Thermotherapy. The long sticks are used like a rolling pin to slowly and deeply roll along the muscle fibres, as the heat penetrates the skin it creates a warming feeling, this lets the client relax a little more, enabling deeper work. The deep long strokes help with drainage of waste products and toxins.
Hot and Cold Stone Therapy
Hot stone therapy is adds in the element of heat; Thermotherapy and alone is an extremely relaxing and indulgent treatment as well as proving to be extremely beneficial for the soft tissues and muscles. The heat penetrates deep into the tissue fibres, instantly giving a lovely warm feeling allowing you to relax faster and deeper. The Hot Stones are naturally shaped volcanic stones made from Basalt.
Cryotherapy is when a cooler stone is placed over where a hot stone previously was, this is to balance the temperature back out. This type of Hot and Cold Stone treatment is ideal for any trauma and/or tissue damage, the constant change of temperature allows for movement of fluids in the body to increase, thus creating a nourishing effect due to the constant constriction and dilation of the blood vessels. The Cold Stones are granite.

Sound therapy has been used as a tool for healing for thousands of years. It aids stress reduction by breaking up emotional blockages within the body and eases you into a state of meditation.
The techniques used are tailored to help relax and yet stimulate the system, allowing for the stress hormones and Cortisol to reduce, lowering blood pressure and heart rate. This help to slip into an Altered State of Consciousness (ASC) similar to that before sleep or deep meditation. Brain waves lower their rate into Alpha and Theta where self healing, cellular repair / re-elaboration mode occurs.
